“I’m really excited to be here,” O’Connor told Techwire. “I’m going to be working in SLED — state and local government and education. I have a lot of accounts based in the state, but I’ve also been kind of appointed as the new K-12 leadership here, to help land and expand some more business in the K-12 space, too.”
Before joining NTT, O’Connor had held a variety of engineering, consulting, pre-sales and sales roles, with his previous affiliations including STS International, BT Global Services, Dimension Data, Converge One, PowerSchool Group, and Zones LLC.
He said his time at Dimension Data, from 2015 to 2017, was pivotal in his progression. He cited the professional relationships he developed there as a key to his recent recruitment by Karenna Lynn, NTT’s area sales director for California public sector, whose tenure with Dimension Data overlapped O’Connor’s.
“I’m really excited to have Mark join,” Lynn told Techwire. “Mark’s going to just fit right in. … I couldn’t be more delighted that he wanted to join my sales team as a client exec in Northern California. I know that he’s going to take really good care of our clients; he already is.”
O’Connor said his first priority is “to get back on the educational bandwagon, so to speak.”
“I really want to start reaching out to people and let them know what NTT can do for them,” O’Connor said. “I think there’s a lot of folks out there who just don’t know who NTT are or have a lot of experience with their solutions sets, which are pretty vast. So my main point of interest is to reconnect with all the folks I used to do business with on a day-to-day basis.”
O’Connor said he’s also eager to start working with state government clients again, something he hasn’t done much in the last couple of years.
O’Connor has a degree in computer science from Heald Institute of Technology and has numerous professional licenses and certifications.
