The California Office of Data and Innovation (ODI) announced the launch of the second round of the Engaged California project, which aims to gather state employee input to improve government efficiency and effectiveness.
The initiative follows Gov. Gavin Newsom’s July 15 executive order aimed at improving government operations and seeks to draw from the experience of the state’s more than 247,000 employees.
“Participants will bring a unique perspective. Not only is California home, but they also understand how our government serves its residents. That is a very powerful perspective and provides a unique opportunity to transform government from the inside out. Their perspective will be instrumental in creating the efficient and effective government that Californians deserve,” ODI Director Jeffery Marino said in a press release.
An earlier iteration of the Engaged California project focused on community engagement surrounding the Los Angeles fire recovery and gave those most affected by the fires a chance to address their concerns.
As of Aug. 4, state workers can sign up to participate in the initiative through the engaged.ca.gov portal. Invitations to participate in the conversation will be sent out to participants Aug. 15.
