The California Office of Data and Innovation (ODI) is recruiting for three key positions related to data. The office uses data, human-centered design and technology to create services that are easier for everyone to use. The positions are remote within California.
ODI is seeking an analytics manager (Career Executive Assignment), who will serve as the project lead for CalData’s Advanced Analytics and Evaluation service. Duties of this position include running the solicitation process, serving as project manager for client projects, and building a library of successful projects.
“At each stage you will lead on client engagement, serving as a full partner in the analytic process,” the job posting says. “You will work with the team to think up and test analytical and evaluation approaches to best meet the business need. You will conduct user research to ensure the success of any analytic products developed. You will roll up your sleeves and help out on analytics.”
Additional details are available in the duty statement. The position has a monthly salary range of $11,102 to $13,226, and the application deadline is Dec. 12.
ODI is also recruiting for a senior data scientist, who will work on a wide variety of data science projects from across the state and “serve as a key adviser on exploratory, statistical, and predictive analytics to inform data-driven decisions,” the job posting says. In addition, the posting says: “You will help evaluate and decide on the best approach for projects from both an ethical lens, as well as statistical lens. You will help advise teams across the state on responsible, effective, and ethical data science practices. You will collaborate with the team’s data engineers and data analysts on the projects.”
Senior data scientists typically have five or more years’ experience. More details about the position are available in the duty statement. The role has a monthly salary range of $10,834 to $13,334, and the application deadline is Wednesday.
ODI also seeks a principal data scientist, “the point person in providing innovative advanced analytic and data science support for projects across California,” the job posting says. It adds: “You will collaborate with the team’s data engineers and data analysts on projects and be the lead on identifying workflow improvements for the team’s data science practice. Years of experience is the primary distinguisher between our principal data scientist (5+ years) and senior data scientist (3+ years).”
The monthly salary for this position is $12,295 to $13,694, and the application deadline is also Wednesday. More information is available in the duty statement.
The open positions were touted last week by Joy Bonaguro, the state’s chief data officer, in a LinkedIn post. She noted that more recruitments are planned for the near future.
