The county will seek contractors in September or October to expand its pool of qualified IT vendors, Christie Carr, Internal Services Department (ISD) division manager for contracts, said Thursday during “Contract Connections,” a webinar presented by ISD. It will post a Request for Qualifications, seeking vendors in IT support services, “which includes professional IT services and then also services to assist us in mission-critical activities on an as-needed basis,” Carr said.
These are services that come under the county’s IT consulting services master agreement, and include troubleshooting, and help desk support services “to assist the county during our teleworking,” she added. The RFQ will remain open during the term of the master agreement and will be posted on the Doing Business with the County website.
That said, doing business with Los Angeles County has changed substantially under COVID-19 as officials have implemented new business practices to ensure their own safety and that of vendors. Proposer conferences, job walks and debriefings are being held virtually via Skype and Microsoft Teams. The county allows bids and proposals to be submitted electronically, and has implemented e-signature for all contract order and work order executions, to enable remote execution.
