Veteran information security leader Chris Forbes, whose work in that area spans two decades, has been appointed chief information security officer and executive adviser at EVOTEK, a facilitator of secure digital business with offerings in the data center and the cloud.

Forbes was most recently executive vice president, CISO and chief privacy officer at Banc of California, which he joined in July 2018; before that, he was CISO and CPO at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco for nearly two years. His work in information security dates to 2002 and includes time at BNP Paribas and Daimler Chrysler.

“All companies are challenged with defining and maturing their Information Security program and cybersecurity defenses,” Forbes said in a statement. “The threat landscape continues to escalate the risks to operational availability, customer confidentiality, and data integrity. In addition, global regulatory scrutiny is increasingly raising the bar for company performance.” At EVOTEK, founded in 2014 to assist enterprise-level customers, the San Francisco-based Forbes will lead expansion of the company’s cybersecurity practice into the Bay Area, according to a news release.

“Chris has an impressive career building information security programs and cybersecurity capabilities for multiple high-profile entities in financial services. He is the perfect complement to our team,” Jeff Klenner, president of EVOTEK, said in a statement.

Forbes has a master of business administration degree from Walsh College and a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior College. His industry certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Certified Information Security Manager.
