“CDPH is in search of a new CIO who will help them pursue an aggressive future vision for public health in CA,” says a LinkedIn post by Adam Dondro, agency information officer for the California Health and Human Services Agency. “Integrated, real time data. Collaboration with public and private labs and health providers. Unifying systems and capabilities across programs and specialties to simplify the IT environment for the public, government users, researchers, etc.,” Dondro wrote. “This is an opportunity to be at the center of life-changing advancements.”
The position, a Career Executive Assignment, “has full management responsibility for a large, complex, multidisciplined organization and oversees an annual IT budget of approximately $70 million and the large IT Project Portfolio” within the IT Services Division, according to the job posting.
Desirable qualifications for the position include:
- Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of multidisciplinary professional, technical and administrative staff;
- Experience establishing policies and standards, process and quality improvement, enterprise IT governance, change management and quality assurance;
- Ability to describe complex technical concepts in terms business leaders and stakeholders can understand;
- Comprehensive understanding of network architecture and client/server technology.
“The incumbent has broad responsibility for the division,” the duty statement says, and “establishes enterprise IT governance and sets strategic direction through the formulation of an IT strategic plan that identifies fundamental performance and quality improvement measures that align with and are critical to the department’s mission and vision. The deputy director is responsible for the management of over 314 state staff.”
The position has a monthly salary range of $12,028 to $13,657, and the application deadline is Dec. 23.
