Sacramento-based Quest Technology Management intends to open a second data center in the region to meet the rising demand of corporate IT outsourcing.
The announcement Tuesday by Quest illustrates how quickly its business is growing.
"The decision to expand our network of 22 global SDCs was driven by our customers’ increased demand to outsource IT infrastructures and lower their CapEx and OpEx costs with Managed and Cloud Services," Quest President and CEO Tim Burke said in a statement.
The data center will be housed in a 120,000-square-foot facility formerly used by HP in Roseville. The site will be Tier 3, SSAE 16 Type II compliant and will offer full services, including disaster recovery and managed and cloud services, according to Quest.
A Quest spokesperson said the company currently has 180 employees and is growing 15 to 20 percent each year. In addition to data center services, Quest provides IT solutions, including hard and software products for its government clients, which include the Department of Motor Vehicles, the California State Teachers Retirement System, the California Public Employee Retirement System, the California Department of Justice and the cities of Sacramento and Roseville, among others.
Quest intends to continue operating its McClellan Park data center, which is roughly half the size of the planned Roseville site.
