Gov. Brown Appoints Ron Hughes, Davood, Ghods and Andrea Wallin-Rohmann to key positions at CalTech

Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday announced the appointments of Ron Hughes, Davood Ghods and Andrea Wallin-Rohmann to key positions at the California Department of Technology.

Hughes, 57, was named the department’s chief deputy director of operations, leaving open his post as the chief of the Office of Technology Services (OTech.) He had held that position since 2012 and provided networking, computing and training to the state.

Prior to serving at OTech, Hughes, of Gold River, had worked in the private sector. He was president of the California Data Center Design Group from 2002 to 2012 and director of data center design at Telegis Networks Inc. from 2000 to 2002. He also worked at the Stephen P. Teale Data Center from 1990 to 1999, including as the director of the Y2K event management center.

Hughes replaced Paul Benedetto who retired in September after 30 years of state service.

Ghods, 53, took Hughes’ former position as the chief of OTech. Ghods had worked as the deputy director for enterprise information services at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) since 2012.

Ghods, of Folsom, has also worked in the public and private sector since 2001. He had worked at the CDCR as the deputy director for enterprise information services since 2012, Auriga Corporation as information technology services director from 2011 to 2012, Ernst and Young LLP from 2009 to 2011 and the California’s Department of Food and Agriculture as agency information officer from 2006 to 2009.

Brown appointed Wallin-Rohman, 46, chief deputy director of policy at the Department of Technology. Like Ghods, Rohman has served in the CDCR, where she has filled several positions since 1998, including deputy director of human resources, chief information officer, project director of the business information system, special assistant to the deputy director of the financial services division and administrative assistant.

Prior to working at the CDCR, Rohman, of Folsom, was the associate personnel analyst at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1997 to 1998, office technician and staff services analyst at the California Department of Corrections from 1993 to 1997 and an office assistant at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 1990 to 1993.

Wallin-Rohman is replacing Anna Brannen who retired last August after more than 25 years of state service.
