Sacramento County has been recognized by the Public Technology Institute for its use of technology to solve problems and improve services and operations in government, according to a press announcement.
"I’m proud of the County – not just because it is winning awards – but because the County and its IT staff are constantly striving to improve processes, customer service and reduce costs through the innovation that technology can bring," said Sacramento County chief information oficer Rami Zakaria in a statement.
The County’s Aviation Shared Use Network won the Public Technology Institute 2012-13 Technology Solutions Award. The project saved more than $100 million in airport construction costs and has streamlined business processes and operations.
The county was also recognized by PTI for its Voice-over IP project, Food Inspections Mobile App and Regional Communications program.
The annual competition recognizes agencies that demonstrate the advanced use of technology to innovate, solve problems, reduce costs, and improve services and internal operations.
