A national association has awarded Sacramento County its Eagles Award for outstanding use of technology for the county’s Polling Place Locator mobile application, the county announced on Friday.
The award was presented by the Election Center to Nick Graf, information and technology analyst with the Sacramento County Elections Office during the organization’s 28th annual conference in Boston, MA on August 16.
The app was developed in house for Android smartphones and, using a GPS, allows voters to find all polling place locations within a two mile radius of their current address.
According to a statement by Dawn Williams, Marshall County Auditor and Chairman of the Election Center Professional Practice Committee, Sacramento County’s mobile app "shows pride in our profession and demonstrates a commitment to excellence that sets the standard for all of us to follow."
The Election Center, also known as the National Association of Election Officials, is a nonprofit organization comprised of government employees who serve in voter registration and elections administration.
