Salesforce Names New Regional VP for State, Northwest

The veteran technologist has experience as an executive in the public and private sectors, including as a chief information officer in state government.

Salesforce has named a new regional vice president to serve California state government as well as select enterprise accounts in the Pacific Northwest.

Jeff Vargas, a Sacramento resident, brings expertise in IT strategy, cloud technology, professional services, state and local government procurement and team management.

Over the past five years, Vargas has been instrumental in Salesforce’s growth in California as senior account executive for state and local government and education (SLED), and he was named Public Sector Account Executive of the Year from 2020-2022.

“The past five years have been an incredible ride, definitely a roller coaster,” Vargas told Industry Insider — California. “We could not have attained this level of success without the support of my management team, an incredible Customer Success Group and all of my teammates, both local and across the organization, that I’ve relied on. I only hope to keep our success going.”

Vargas has a deep background in technology, having held multiple management and executive roles in both the private and public sectors.

Before joining Salesforce, he had been a cybersecurity account executive with CA Technologies (now part of Broadcom), as well as an account executive with SAS. Before joining the private sector, Vargas worked in state government in California in a number of executive management roles, including as a chief information officer. During his tenure with the state, Vargas implemented numerous large infrastructure projects.

Vargas is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He has earned numerous technology certifications, including from Cisco, Microsoft and ISC2-CISSP.
