Muellner has been with Salesforce for more than eight years, previously serving as area sales manager for state and local government in the Los Angeles area. He’s been in his new role for about a month.
“The organization, Salesforce, is looking to become even more specific, more granular, when it comes to our approach to developing business at the local government level, and for us, L.A. will be the start of a number of different areas around the country in which we’ll be doing something similar,” Muellner told Techwire. “That is, setting up a management and team structure where we’ll have an RVP (regional vice president), myself, managing a team of account directors who will be focused on, in this particular case, the county of Los Angeles, city of Los Angeles, the city of Long Beach and six key cities within the county, and that’s Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Torrance, Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena.
“It’ll be my responsibility to manage that team, and we’re going to be growing. … We’ll have potentially three to four account directors managing the geography I just mentioned. It’ll be an opportunity for us to get much more in tune with our customers … better understand their business, better understand how we can help them with their customers in the county and the city.”
Muellner cited an exclusive contract Salesforce has for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, and he noted that the ramp-up includes consideration of how the company can best serve “not only the fan and the athlete, but also the city and county from the standpoint of citizens, business owners and visitors. That’s our long-range focus over the course of the next six years.”
Muellner said he’s eager to get back into a management role after having worked directly in sales.
Before joining Salesforce, Muellner had served in management and executive roles with Oracle, Lagan Technologies, Unisys, GTSI and Panasonic. He is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and Loyola University Chicago.
