San Diego County Kicks Off Broadband Funding Listening Tour

Officials in San Diego County have a listening tour throughout unincorporated areas to more effectively distribute $9 million in available grant funding. The events could uncover future contracting opportunities.

The county of San Diego is continuing efforts to extend broadband service to unserved and underserved parts of the region. This work is an extension of the release of the county’s Comprehensive Broadband Plan, which was first released in January 2023.

Several upcoming public outreach events could allow Internet service providers and subcontractors to identify upcoming contracts or service needs.

“Let’s talk about broadband! Share your thoughts at a public meeting on the draft criteria for awarding $9 million in grant funds for high-speed internet projects in the unincorporated areas,” the county said in an X post.

The following events have been scheduled:

  • Tuesday, May 28, 2024, 6-7 p.m.: Spring Valley Community Planning Group, San Miguel Fire Headquarters, 2850 Via Orange Way, Spring Valley, CA 91978
