San Diego’s proposed fiscal year 2016 budget summarizes what the city’s IT department is planning to accomplish through next summer.

Among the projects:

  • Finishing a Microsoft Office 365 integration to provide San Diego a single email archive and e-discovery solution, and upgrading city desktops to Office 2013.
  • Implementing real-time cybersecurity monitoring on the city’s networks.
  • Installing architecture to support digital signatures to streamline the city’s document workflow.
  • Implementing an SAP document storage solution to provide more efficient access to SAP documents.
  • Completing San Diego’s website redesign project.
  • Collaborating on the city’s open data initiative.
  • Implementing a replacement for the SIRE software to manage the city’s docket process.
  • Completing a remote access token project for the San Diego Police Department.
  • Upgrading the Aspect Call Management System used multiple by city departments.
In February, Jonathan Behnke was appointed CIO and IT director of San Diego after serving in the role on an interim basis since July 2014. Behnke was formerly the city’s IT sourcing and ERP basis manager. He previously worked for the now-defunct San Diego Data Processing Corp., which managed the city’s communications infrastructure. In November, San Diego hired the city’s first chief digital officer, Maksim Pecherskiy.

The Department of Information Technology’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2016 is $49.2 million.
