The California Secretary of State has awarded Folsom-based Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP) a contract for nearly $1 million to manage the California Business Connect project, which will automate the manual filing and records system within the agency’s Business Programs Division, according to company a press release.
The California Business Connect (CBC) project will eliminate paper by automating records-request processing, streamlining a process that currently requires staff to manually enter more than 2 million filings and records requests per year. Automating the process will result in a more cost-effective, environmentally friendly procedure, according to the department.
The largest portion of the Secretary of State’s Office, the Business Programs Division is the first stop for anyone wanting to do business in California, according to the agency’s website. Many companies are required to file documents with the agency if they plan to do business in the state. The paper-based transactions sometimes exist without electronic backup, a problem the department plans to address with the new system, the release stated.
