The state Department of Social Services (DSS) is recruiting for a chief information officer to lead one of the largest IT operations in state government.
“This is one of the most influential CIO positions in the State!” says a LinkedIn post by Adam Dondro, agency information officer for the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS), the umbrella agency under which DSS resides. The CIO will be “in a position to influence the way in which we, the State, service those most in need across the state.”
The position came open when the former CIO, Brian Wong, joined the Office of Systems Integration (OSI) as chief deputy director and CIO last month. OSI also comes under CHHS.
“We’re looking for the best and brightest who are ready to make a real difference,” Dondro said in his post.
“The position requires leadership with people; foresight regarding technological innovations; the ability to identify needed skills and complete the ISD team with them; solid judgment; and a track record of project completion through collaboration with colleagues in programs, data, and research fields,” the job posting says. “This position often requires consultation, tact, and diplomacy with external entities including vendors, the California Health and Human Services Agency and its Chief Information Officer, the Department of General Services and Department of Technology.”
The position is a Career Executive Assignment, with a monthly salary range of $10,360 to $12,341. The application deadline is May 6.
