State agencies acknowledged for advancements in mobile tech

The Government Mobility Conference in Sacramento on Thursday, attended by more than 1200 state employees and technology industry representatives, highlighted the state agencies voted as having the best mobile applications and technology in multiple categories.

Forty public sector applications were on display at the conference, competing for votes from the attendees. The voting took place throughout the day.

The awards were as follows:

Best Mobile Application
: "Breathe Well" from the Air Resources Board that allows users to find air pollution levels in your area and over 100 locations statewide.

Most Valuable Application
: "Health Care Quality Report Card" from the Department of Health Care Services which allows users to compare ratings of local health plans and their medical groups and doctors.

Coolest Application: "Da Vinci Center for Innovative Learning" from the San Joaquin County Office of Education which helps young people learn about robotics, video production and other technology and engineering fields.

Most Innovative Solution: "Levee Watch" from the Department of Water Resources which allows users to identify possibly hazardous levee conditions by allowing the public to send geo-coded pictures and information when they see problems in the levee system.

Mobile Government Best GIS Application: "California GeoPortal" from the California Technology Agency which allows users to gathers data sources like demographics, school information, transportation and environmental issues to create innovative, interactive maps that helps shed new light on interactive

Mobile Government Best Internet Solution: "California Lottery Mobile App" from the California State Lottery which allows lottery players to access jackpot results, find local retailers and contact the California State Lottery.
