Two major departments in state government are recruiting for leadership positions.
The California Department of Social Services is recruiting for a chief technology officer (IT Manager I) who will also serve as assistant deputy director “by planning, organizing and directing the development, implementation and maintenance” of application and network services.
“This includes developing and implementing policies, standards and procedures to ensure statewide hardware, software and internal and external facing services keep pace with IT advances and provide users with optimum interactive experiences,” the job posting says.
Responsibilities of the position include serving as chief adviser to the chief information officer and other leaders on policy decisions relating to IT issues, requirements, new and emerging technologies and service levels. The CTO also “provides technical expertise, guidance and advisement to California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHSA) leadership, statewide program deputy directors, subordinate managers and key county representatives,” says the duty statement for the position.
The position is a Career Executive Assignment (CEA), and the monthly salary range is $7,442 to $12,320. The application deadline is Nov. 6.
The other position, for an IT Manager I, is in recruitment by the California Department of Technology.
The IT manager “has significant responsibilities for formulating and administering organizational IT policies and programs and for planning, organizing and directing the work in the areas of information security engineering, software engineering and system engineering and client services,” the job posting says. The manager “works with the CIO (chief information officer) to develop and implement strategies and guidelines to provide uninterrupted access to ... CDT’s computing and voice services functions that support major applications.” The manager is also “responsible for the daily delivery of access management, incident management, VoIP and cellphone services and the administration of directory services and tools within the Windows OS and iOS/Android OS platforms.”
