State Agencies Seeking Several IT Leadership Candidates

Departments and agencies are seeking developers, managers and supervisors in the IT field. Application deadlines for these positions are this month.

The state is recruiting for several key technology positions.

Covered California is seeking a Chief of Enterprise for Network and Voice (IT Manager I) to manage a group of information system specialists and state consultants, in addition to one or more system integrator contracts, “to ensure that enterprise technology, infrastructure, tools and support teams provide the services required to meet operational objectives of Covered California,” the job posting says. The chief “provides IT leadership on one of the largest and most complex contact center infrastructures in the State. Oversees the activities of multiple complex IT functions and ensures network and voice projects are managed and completed in timely fashion.” The position has a monthly salary range of $8,016 to $10,742, and the application deadline is Aug. 24.

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is recruiting for an IT Specialist II to be “primarily responsible for the administration, monitoring, and analysis of complex network infrastructure and security systems and (act) as the high-level technical expert for a variety of enterprise network security system and infrastructure components,” according to the job posting. The incumbent “leads team efforts and is responsible for network security processes and software and hardware configurations to ensure the effectiveness of the enterprise network and security monitoring and protection systems.” In addition, the job responsibilities include “security incident response and communications, conducting internal and acting as a liaison for external security audits, drafting IT security procedures and reviewing security policies, and reviewing and/or researching security design, technologies, and trends and making recommendations for changes and upgrades to the network security and infrastructure environment.” The monthly salary range is $7,365 to $10,165, and the recruitment will be ongoing until the position is filled.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture is recruiting for a Track and Trace supervisor (IT Supervisor II). “The incumbent is responsible for managing state technical staff and overseeing vendor staff to perform business, technical, and legislative analysis, requirements development, system testing and validation, configuration support, release management, related interface support, system change control and governance, organizational change management, and contract management,” the job posting says. “It is critical that the incumbent maintain a high level of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact as this position must effectively communicate with executive staff, technical resources, and vendors. The position also requires significant collaboration with supporting vendors, other state departments, and the cannabis cultivation community.” The position has a monthly salary range of $7,263.00 to $9,731.00 per month, and the application deadline is Aug. 31.

The state Department of Consumer Affairs is seeking a network specialist (IT Specialist I) to serve as a project leader “on complex information technology studies, procurements, system installations or problems requiring full journey level skills,” says the job’s duty statement, which is linked from the job posting. “The ITS I provides complex network infrastructure services and support for the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) including network hardware and software configuration, network hardware and software research and evaluation, and network equipment configuration standards development. The ITS I may work as a project manager on small, medium and large projects, on a team, or independently.” The position has a monthly salary range of $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Aug. 27.  

The California Department of Justice is recruiting for two developer (IT Specialist I) positions, both with similar responsibilities and both reporting to an IT Supervisor II. Both incumbents will be “members of the development team that maintains and monitors applications, databases, interfaces, processes, and reporting tools. The technology includes JAVA and PL/SQL based architecture. The incumbent participates in multiple technology processes including systems analysis, product development, and maintenance activities for high-profile legislation-mandated projects or routine assignments.” The monthly salary range for both positions is $5,562 to $8,999, and the job descriptions can be found here and here.
