State Departments Seek Candidates for Chief, Developer, Manager Roles

The California High-Speed Rail Authority, the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research and the California Highway Patrol are seeking to fill key roles in IT.

Management and senior positions in three state departments are among state technology jobs in recruitment.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority is seeking a chief (IT Manager II) to oversee the Enterprise Services Branch, which encompasses Infrastructure Operations; Client Services; and Data Management and Administration, according to the job posting.

“Directly and through subordinate resources, the incumbent ensures the timely delivery of services and provides leadership and technical direction to technology professionals in support of cloud computing platform services, server administration, identity management, data management, and end user support,” the posting says.

The California Highway Patrol is seeking an IT Manager I to coordinate with CHP’s Information Security Office team to manage network activities, implement information security infrastructure, and provide regular network status and service reports to senior management.

According to the job posting, this is a leadership position. The manager will work within CHP’s IT organization and with business management “to align network infrastructure-related priorities and plans with key business objectives of the department for the Technology Infrastructure Section/Network Services Group.”

The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR) is recruiting for a senior applications developer (IT Specialist III) to serve as a lead and architect on complex IT systems and as the advanced technical specialist performing complex software development.

OPR serves the governor and the administration with planning, research, policy development and legislative analysis.

The developer will work with a technical team to develop and maintain applications both on-prem and in the cloud for OPR, according to the job posting. Duties of the role include:
  • Designing, coding and testing solutions and providing application development and mastery-level technical support for OPR internal applications.
  • Design, development, configuration, application installation, maintenance services, monitoring of application/system performance and status, and diagnosing and repairing failures in accordance with best practices in administration and security.
  • Optimize and apply solutions for the benefit of the overall organization and play a major role in advising management or formulating IT strategy and policy within the organization.
