State Fire Agency Seeking Chief Operations Manager

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is seeking a chief operations manager (IT Manager II) to be responsible for operational availability, continuity, effectiveness and efficiency of all production systems.

“The person in this role will provide leadership and direct teams across multiple disciplines and has full management responsibility for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and managing all IT operations,” according to the job posting and duty statement. The manager will also supervise the chief of Enterprise Services, the chief of telecommunications, the CAD Contract Project manager and an IT Specialist III. Functions of the position include operational management (30 percent), Enterprise Services (20 percent), telecommunications (20 percent), operational administrative activities (15 percent), strategy and planning (10 percent) and other duties (5 percent).

Applicants are also required to answer a six-part supplemental questionnaire. The position has a monthly salary range of $10,421 to $12,668, and the application deadline is Jan. 12.
