State Seeking Managers, Architects, Telecoms Expert

The recruitments are being done by some high-profile agencies and departments, including the Department of Technology, the Employment Development Department and the Department of Managed Health Care, among others.

State agencies are recruiting for a spate of noteworthy IT jobs.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to serve as a network automation architect for the Office of Technology Services and as a lead technical automation engineer and subject matter expert. The incumbent will be responsible for participating in the development of strategic plans, goals and objectives including development of the network automation architecture roadmap; and for enterprise-wide collaboration to enable the design, engineering, and implementation of Software Defined Networking (SDN), Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) services. According to the job posting: “The Sr. Telecom Engr will understand major aspects of the current public and private cloud and enterprise network architectures, including their functional organization and configuration, as well as operational principles and procedures. In addition, the Sr. Telecom Engr. (is) an adviser to the Infrastructure Services Deputy Director and the Enterprise Network Branch Chief and a technical lead and mentor for Infrastructure Services staff. The Sr. Telecom Engr works effectively with contractors, vendors, professional engineers, customers, Office of Technology Services (OTech) staff, and other stakeholders, as a technical engineering consultant.” The position has a monthly salary range of $9,766 to $12,223, and the application deadline is Aug. 5.  

CDT is also recruiting for an IT Specialist I to “work with customers and other Office of Technology Services (OTech) units and will be responsible for the more complex aspects of configuring (provisioning), implementing, activating and delivering Office of Technology Services Wide Area Network (WAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), the Local Area Network (LAN) and all customer data center network services and projects in support of customers utilizing services” from CDT, the job posting says. The IT Specialist I “is responsible for the engineering/design, configuration and implementation (onboarding) of all customer related network services initiated by customer service requests or customer projects. As necessary, the IT Spec I designs, recommends, monitors, tunes, troubleshoots and provides limited consulting for difficult service requests and/or incidents for the more complex network environments. The IT Spec I will also provide Tier 3 technical support at the expert level, which will include limited consulting, providing training to OTech staff and creating/updating documentation.” The monthly salary range is $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Aug. 5.

The State Franchise Tax Board is recruiting for an IT Acquisition Management Architect (IT Specialist II) to act “as a Process Automation software architect specializing in the highly complex Information Technology Acquisition Management (ITAM) systems,” according to the job posting. “The incumbent will be responsible for defining n-tier application architectures, requirements for new projects, design/develop software code, unit test all functions and create project documentation.” In addition, the incumbent will lead development teams. The monthly salary range is $7,365 to $9,869, and the application deadline is July 31. 

The Department of Water Resources is recruiting for a Digital Services and Solutions Section Manager (IT Manager I), who “plans, directs, organizes, and controls work activities and resources for the enterprise-level digital services and solutions technical operations and functions,” according to the job posting. “The DSS Section provides enterprise digital solutions and IT customer alignment services in support of the Department’s programs, strategic goals, and business objectives. The incumbent also serves in the capacity of Digital Customer Relations Manager, working directly with the DWR program areas management to ensure that the Department’s ability to utilize technology as a business enabler is effectively addressed.” The monthly salary range is $7,634 to $10,230, and the application deadline is July 31.  

The Department of Managed Health Care is seeking a Database Architect (IT Specialist II) to serve as a technical expert on Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence (BI),  leveraging existing technologies to deliver high quality data, and developing necessary analytics and reporting capabilities. “Our current technology stack includes Tableau, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, MarkLogic Data Hub Integration Platform, Esri ArcGIS geo-spatial data visualization platform and more,” the job posting notes. The architect “will lead data initiatives and (be) responsible for the development and delivery of enterprise data warehouse, analytic databases, analytics and enterprise reporting to the offices of the DMHC. The successful candidate will leverage data architecture best practices to assess current data architecture and develop future state and plan of implementation. You will be developing architecture and guidelines to establish Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Governance (DG).” The monthly salary range is $7,014 to $9,681, and the recruitment will remain open until the position is filled.

The Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking an IT Specialist I to assists the Network Security Unit and Network Management Unit “on the ongoing maintenance and operations in regards to the DMV Information Technology wide area and local area network and telecommunications infrastructure,” the job posting says. In addition, the IT Specialist I “assists in moves, changes, and additions of DMV network devices related to the DMV Enterprise network, in addition to installing, configuring, maintaining, and administering enterprise network solutions” and “provides second-tier technical support of network and telecommunications issues.” The monthly salary range for this position is $5,297 to $8,570, and the application deadline is Aug. 4.

The Department of Housing and Community Development is seeking Enterprise Quality Assurance Specialist (IT Specialist I) who will support application testing for enterprise initiatives and projects and who “demonstrates an in-depth understanding and a level of expertise in software testing and develops and applies testing processes for new and existing products,” the job posting says. Desired skills and experience include quality assurance/testing experience in an agile environment; experience writing SQL Queries; and experience using automated testing tools such as Selenium, according to the job posting. The monthly salary for this position is $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is July 31.  

The Employment Development Department is recruiting for a Benefit Systems Modernization (BSM) Data Migration and Conversion Specialist (IT Specialist I) to serve as an individual contributor and to work on complex IT projects. “The incumbent is responsible for analyzing, developing and testing the data migration and conversion activities through the State Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) and solution implementation,” the job posting says. “The BSM project requires the incumbent to have wide experience in analyzing, developing and supporting complex databases, database tools and techniques, enterprise mainframe, client/server, N-Tier, and web-based systems. The incumbent will work closely with various business customers for data analysis, data quality rules, system analysis and data cleanup activities, provide support for developing and testing various internal and external system interfaces, and provide support for developing various system reports.” The monthly salary range is $5,297 to $8,570 and the application deadline is Aug. 2.
