State’s Top IT Leaders to Headline State of Technology Conference

In addition to three “fireside chats” with CIOs from state government, the event will include a briefing on the new state budget as well as networking breaks.

Top technology leaders from state government will headline the State of Technology California Industry Forum, a premier event in Sacramento for those in the IT industry.

The event begins at 12:30 p.m. July 27 at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel with registration and networking, followed at 1 p.m. with opening remarks by state CIO Liana Bailey-Crimmins, director of the California Department of Technology. The agenda also includes a briefing on the state budget by Joe Morris, deputy chief innovation officer for e.Republic, parent company of event presenters Industry Insider — California, Government Technology magazine and the Center for Digital Government.

After the briefing, three “fireside chats” with state department technology leaders will follow sequentially so attendees can attend all. The afternoon will include:
  • At 2 p.m., a fireside chat with Scott Gregory, deputy director of technology for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE); Kristin Montgomery, CIO and director of Enterprise Information Services for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; and Jason Piccione, agency CIO for the state Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
  • At 2:45 p.m., a half-hour networking break.
  • At 3:15 p.m., a fireside chat with Rita Gass, CIO for the state Employment Development Department, and Jake Johnson, deputy director and CIO in the Information Technology Services Division of the California Department of Rehabilitation.
  • At 3:45 p.m., a fireside chat with Chad Bratton, CIO for the Office of Data and Innovation; and Kanuri Murty, CIO and deputy director in the IT Division for the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
  • At 4:30 p.m., the day will conclude with an hour-long networking reception.
