Tech Charity Event Raises $32,500 for Sacramento-Area Foster Child Program

California’s IT community helped raise $32,500 to support  Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, Sacramento County (CASA), an organization that serves foster children in the Sacramento area.

With donations from individuals, technology companies and other local organizations, a charity event held at Sacramento’s Beatnik Studios on May 28 featured live music, dance performances and an art auction.

CASA Sacramento County Executive Director Carol Noreen provided the following statement:

“Deloitte has been a tremendous partner to CASA Sacramento through its consistent support and has allowed us to expand advocacy services to more local foster youth each passing year. Tonight we celebrated our 8th annual Light of Hope event, and raised $32,500, our best year ever!  The funds we collect will go directly to services for children first entering foster care, many of whom are infants and toddlers. Advocacy for these children requires specialized training and our volunteers are ready to step up and ensure these children’s voices are heard and that increased and sustainable permanency through loving families can be achieved by early assignment of CASA volunteers.  We are aiming for better health and developmental outcomes for our most vulnerable children, outcomes that will help break the cycle of abuse and neglect, one child at a time.”
