Tech Moves: State Agency Data Audit, Brannen to Headline WITI, Gagnier, Protecting Tech Jobs and iPhones for Everyone

The State Auditor Elaine Howle last week released a report:  State Agencies’ Computer-Generated Data Varied in Their Completeness and Accuracy, giving agencies mixed reviews on how reliable their data are for audit purposes.   Read the full report here.

Women in Technology International (WITI) is hosting a special career event on November 15 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Speakers include Technology Agency Undersecretary Anna Brannen, Assistant Secretaries Kari Gutierrez and Mary Winkley and Deloitte Principal Roy Mathew.  EMC Executive Ann Shook is moderating.  The event is being hosted by Deloitte Consulting Services at 980 9th Street, 18th Floor in Sacramento.

Saying California is “ripe” for similar efforts to crack down on the use of pirated software, the coalition Protect California Jobs and Innovation has issued a statement in support of action taken by the Attorney General of Massachusetts to crack down on companies using unlicensed software to gain a competitive advantage.   Massachusetts fined a Thailand-based seafood company $10,000 for using pirated software. PCJI is a coalition of California businesses, manufacturers, innovators, software and hardware solutions providers, workers, and individuals concerned about unfair competition from the use of stolen information technology.
