 ENS, Inc. issued a press release this week announcing its "Giving Back to Veterans" Golf Tournament earned nearly $12,000 in donations for the Citrus Heights Vet Center.   The inaugural charity golf tournament played  at Lincoln Hills Golf Club in November will be held annually, says organizer Chad Hodges.

According an email to staff from CDCR Agency CIO Joe Panora, the Business Information Systems (BIS) Program has a new Program Director, Paul Smith.  Paul has more 18 years of experience in State government in the areas of Procurement, IT Procurement, and Project Management.  He has worked within the Business Information Systems Project for 4 Years as Change Manager, Implementation Manager, User Project Manager, Time and Shift Project Manager, and BIS Project Manager.

Erika Li, former Senior Policy and Fiscal Analyst for the Legislative Analysts Office has moved to a new leadership position at the Department of Finance. She is now the Assistant Program Budget Manager of Administration over Employee Compensation, Retirement Systems, and IT Operations and Consulting. "It’s been a fun and challenging experience thus far. I feel lucky to be learning as much as I am," she said in an email.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson on Wednesday announced the appointment of Cindy Kazanis as the new director of the California Department of Education’s (CDE) Educational Data Management Division.    According to the announcement, Kazanis will be a key advisor to leaders of the California Department of Education on compliance monitoring and operation of CDE’s major data systems including the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System, the Consolidated Application and Reporting System, and the California Accountability and Improvement System. She replaced Keric Ashley.

Local government CIOsJon Walton and Steve Reneker, formerly of San Francisco and Riverside County respectively, have moved on to new positions.   Reneker is now the permanent general manager of the city of Los Angeles’ Information Technology Agency, and Walton has accepted the position of CIO of San Mateo County and director of the county’s Information Services Department, both according to December articles by Government Technology.

The California Technology Agency this week announced it is having a “Green Fair’ on Jan. 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at their facility in Rancho Cordova.   Bring your electronic waste or shred your confidential documents for free.   Read the announcement here.
