Technology Undersecretary Anna Brannen to Retire from State Service

Veteran California IT executive Anna Brannen will retire from state service at the end of August, according to her boss, Technology Agency Secretary Carlos Ramos.

"Anna has been a real asset here at the agency. She brings a deep understanding of policy and strategy, and will leave behind big shoes to fill," said Ramos today via phone. “She is well-regarded in the IT community, this will be a big loss for the state."

As the undersecretary of policy at CTA, Brannen oversees the organization that sets statewide policy and strategy for all IT programs across the executive branch, including information security and health IT.

Governor Brown appointed Brannen to the California Technology Agency on August 19, 2011. Prior to joining the agency, she served from 2007 as CIO at the Board of Equalization and from 2005 to 2007 as deputy director of the Office of Technology Services.   She served as a principal budget analyst in the Legislative Analyst’s Office from 1999 to 2005, as a data processing manager at the Department of Information Technology from 1997 to 1999, and as data processing manager at the Employment Development Department from 1986 to 1997.
