Tracking the Spend: $1M for Secretary of State’s Top Five Buys of IT Goods

In the third quarter of 2022, by comparison, the California Secretary of State’s Office spent $604,095 on its five largest purchases of IT goods.

The California Secretary of State’s Office (SOS) spent just over $1 million on its five largest purchases of IT goods in the third quarter of 2023.

According to the State Contract and Procurement Registration System, SOS’ top five buys totaled $1,008,793 (all numbers are rounded).

The five largest purchases for 2023’s third quarter were:
  • $297,620 for “Splunk Cloud Subscription with attested FedRAMP Moderate impact level controls, Encryption at Rest, and Standard Success Plan - 300 GB/day,” in a July 1 Software Licensing Program (SLP) contract with Optm.
  • $295,547 for Microsoft Enterprise licenses in a Sept. 11 SLP contract with Crayon Software Experts LLC.
  • $202,779 for a Salesforce Premier Success Plan, Enterprise Edition, in an Aug. 30 SLP contract with Taborda Solutions Inc.
  • $141,072 for Palo Alto Networks “GlobalProtect subscription,” term dates Nov. 15, 2023, to Nov. 15, 2024, in a July 1 statewide contract with Optm West.
  • $71,775 for computer hardware maintenance and support (printer, scanner and multifunctional equipment maintenance), in a July 1 cooperative agreement contract with Ray Morgan Company LLC.

In the corresponding period of 2022, SOS spent $604,095 on its five largest purchases.
