The department was known as the Department of Business Oversight until 2020, when the Legislature changed its name, increased its staff size and revamped its mission to “promote innovation, clarify regulatory hurdles for emerging products and increase education and outreach for vulnerable groups.” It's part of the state Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
According to the State Contract and Procurement Registration System, DFPI spent $3,506,511 on its five largest purchases of IT services from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Those five purchases were:
- $1 million for a two-year contract that began Nov. 21 with Anvaya Solutions Inc. for cybersecurity examination services. This contract was awarded under an IT Master Services Agreement (IT MSA) with a small/minority business certification.
- $814,990 for support in the Project Approval Lifecycle for DocQNet replacement from Infinite Solutions Inc., awarded under the IT MSA with a small-business certification. It runs from June 21, 2024, through Dec. 26, 2025.
- $691,521 for user licenses for Casepoint LLC’s e-discovery platform, in a non-competitive bid for proprietary software. The contract with Casepoint LLC runs from May 23, 2024, through May 31, 2026.
- $500,000 for cybersecurity digital forensic services in an IT MSA contract with Acuity Technical Solutions LLC that runs from Nov. 14, 2024, through Nov. 20, 2026, with a small/minority business certification.
- $500,000 for enterprise data management support in a California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) contract with AnSurTech LLC that runs from Dec. 16, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2026, under a small/minority business certification.
