Tracking the Spend: CHP Spent $14.6M on Top 5 Buys of IT Goods

The California Highway Patrol spent $14,615,388 on its five largest purchases of IT goods in the first quarter of 2023. That is more than the combined corresponding spend in the previous two quarters.

The California Highway Patrol’s five largest purchases of IT goods in the first quarter of 2023 totaled just over $14.5 million.

According to the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System, the CHP spent $14,615,388 (with rounding) on its five largest purchases. The expenditures for the first quarter totaled more than the corresponding spend in the previous two quarters combined; in the fourth quarter of 2022, the CHP spent $9,310,027, and in the third quarter it spent just over $4.1 million.

The five largest purchases of IT goods — apparently laptops, cameras, licensing and maintenance agreements — in the first quarter of 2023 were:
  • $11,112,013 for “FOCUS-05-03-U-02, FOCUS In-Car Video Camera Unit, 2.8mm,UV,IMX290 (rear)” in a March 21 statewide contract with Coban Technologies Inc.
  • $993,798 for “Part# 6T2D2UC#ABA; CLIN# LM101; HP Zbook 16 Fury G9 i7 16GB 256SSD Mobile Workstation” in a Jan. 25 statewide contract with NWN Solutions Corp.
  • $937,318 for “HPE Maintenance Renewal” in a Feb. 3 cooperative agreement contract with CDW Government LLC.
  • $851,485 for “Win10 Pro, Intel Core i5-10310U 1.7GHz vPro, AMT, 10.1” WUXGA Glovd Multi Touch+Digitizer, 16GB, 512GB OPAL SSD (quick-release), Intel Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, Dual Pass, Infrared Webcam, 8MP Rear Camera, Barcode. ITEM #FZ-G2AZ002KM,” in a Jan. 25 statewide contract award to CDW Government LLC.
  • $720,774 for “QEJ-00003, Visual Studio Ent with GitHub ALng SA” in a Jan. 23 Software Licensing Program contract with SoftwareOne Inc.
