Tracking the Spend: CHP’s Top Five Buys of IT Services

The California Highway Patrol spent $728,122 on its five largest purchases of IT services between April 1 and June 30.

The California Highway Patrol spent less than $1 million on its five largest purchases of IT services in the second quarter of 2023.

According to the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System, the department spent $728,122, with rounding, on its five biggest buys from April 1 through June 30. That’s more than the department spent on corresponding transactions in the second quarter of 2022, when the total for its five largest buys of IT services was $438,207, with rounding.

In the second quarter of this year, CHP’s five biggest buys of IT services were:
  • $375,000 for IT consulting, in an April 1 competitively bid award to SymSoft Solutions that runs through June 30, 2024.
  • $320,000 for Visa and Mastercard processing, in a June 1 Master Agreement contract with First Data Merchant Services LLC.
  • $14,940 for mobile app services through Expanded Apps Inc.
  • $9,996 for a commercial rack-mount mixer amplifier with Bluetooth, in a May 26 competitively bid contract with Tel Set Communications Inc.
  • $8,186 for labor related to technology connection/disconnection and removal and replacement of controls, in a June 26 competitively bid contract with Cummins Inc.
