Tracking the Spend: Emergency Services’ IT Buys in Q3

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services spent significantly less on its five largest buys of IT goods in the third quarter of 2023 than it did on corresponding buys in 2022.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) spent just more than $5 million on its five largest purchases of IT goods in the third quarter of 2023.

CalOES, a cabinet-level office, oversees and coordinates emergency preparedness, response, recovery and homeland security activities within the state.

According to the State Contract and Procurement Registration System, the office’s five largest buys totaled $5,119,232 on items including file storage, large TV/video monitors, cybersecurity protection and software. By comparison, CalOES spent $7,689,478 on the corresponding purchases in the third quarter of 2022.

The office’s five largest buys were:
  • $2,829,624 for file storage in an Aug. 4 software licensing program (SLP) contract with Taborda Solutions Inc.
  • $903,144 for large Sony TV/video monitors, in an Aug. 6 competitively bid contract with One Diversified LLC.
  • $798,000 for attack surface updates, in a July 24 proprietary contract with CyCognito Inc.
  • $303,646 for a subscription to the MuleSoft platform, in a July 24 SLP contract with Taborda Solutions Inc.
  • $285,000 for a subscription to a geographic information system SaaS service, in a Sept. 19 SLP (small business) contract with Patriot IT Corp.
