Tracking the Spend: Radio Gear, Routers, Notebooks Cost CHP $22M

During the last quarter of 2023, the California Highway Patrol’s five largest purchases of IT goods totaled $22,435,700.

The California Highway Patrol spent just over $22 million in the last quarter of 2023 on its five largest buys of IT goods.

According to the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System, CHP spent $22,453,700 (all numbers are rounded) between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 on such items as radio and communications equipment, notebook computers and router hardware. The five largest buys were:
  • $8,603,894 for bundled communications gear in a Nov. 7 statewide contract with Motorola Solutions Inc.
  • $5,238,173 for notebook computers in a Nov. 3 statewide contract with NWN Solutions Corp.
  • $3,469,110 for Analytics BI Suite Viewer in an Oct. 5 software licensing program (SLP) contract with Visionary Integration Professionals LLC running from Sept. 28, 2023, through Nov. 30, 2024.
  • $2,946,186 for TriTech VisiCAD computer-aided dispatch equipment, in an SLP contract with Optm dated Oct. 11.
  • $2,178,337 for Cisco router equipment in a Nov. 3 statewide contract with Presidio Networked Solutions Group.

During the corresponding quarter of 2022, CHP spent $9,310,027 on its five largest buys of IT goods.
