Tracking the Spend: These 10 Agencies Spent the Most on IT Services

During the 2022-23 fiscal year, the Office of Systems Integration (now the Office of Technology and Solutions Integration) led the spending on IT services among all departments in state government.

The 10 departments in state government that spent the most on IT services in fiscal year 2022-23 made purchases totaling just over $1 billion.

In all, the 10 departments spent $1,131,733,305 during the July 1-June 30 fiscal year, according to the California Department of General Services’ Procurement Division. Ranked by amount of spend, the 10 departments are:
  • Office of Systems Integration (now the Office of Technology and Solutions Integration), $298,157,606
  • Department of Motor Vehicles, $146,170,992
  • Department of Public Health, $128,429,456
  • Judicial Branch of California, $109,132,215
  • Department of Transportation (Caltrans), $106,479,563
  • Department of Health Care Services, $88,459,787
  • California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES), $72,923,055
  • Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, $67,335,784
  • Employment Development Department, $59,349,637
  • Department of Social Services, $55,295,210
