Two California officials among Government Technology’s 'Doers, Dreamers & Drivers'

CalPERS information technology director Dale Jablonsky and the city of Riverside’s Chief Information Officer Steve Reneker were recognized as top "Doers, Dreamers and Drivers" of technology innovation in this month’s issue of Government Technology.

Government Technology, a national publication focusing on technology solutions for state and local government, reserves the March issue to recognizing 25 innovators of technology solutions. The publication recognized the difficulty of innovative technology in government, including tight budgets and bureaucratic hurdles, and named the group as individuals who can work through such constraints, according to the company’s website.

Two California officials were among those named by the publication.

Dale Jablonsky, who has overseen IT services for the state’s Public Employees’ Retirement System since 2010, has worked with CalPERS to create an integrated enterprise system that launched its first phase in September, according to the publication.

Steve Reneker, Riverside CIO since 2004, made possible free wireless Internet service for low-income residents across the entire 81-square mile city, according to Government Technology. Reneker cited the city’s 311 mobile app, which works with the existing 311 system to create fast work orders, and IP-based video security cameras that help the city’s police department monitor crime in real time as examples of his success.
