UC Santa Barbara improves research capacity with $1 million HP computing cluster

The University of California, Santa Barbara Center for Scientific Computing recently upgraded its capacity with a $1 million Hewlett Packard computing cluster, according to HP.

The new state-of-the-art system provides the center, which provides hardware and consulting for researchers running calculations and simulations, 12 TeraFlops of computing power, according to a recent announcement. The system is expected to provide new resources for campus researchers and students working on classwork and thesis projects and will also be used for research relating to Alzheimer’s disease, earthquake modeling and fuel cell design.
