Story #14: Amy Tong in July began her tenure as OSI’s chief deputy director and agency information officer of the California Health and Human Services Agency. OSI was established in 2005 to manage large and complex health and human services IT projects, many of which span multiple agencies. OSI’s projects include the Statewide Welfare Automation System Child Welfare Services’ case management system and the Unemployment Insurance Modernization Project. Tong left her position as CIO of the California State Lottery, a position she had held since December 2012. She oversaw the technology required for California to join PowerBall, a multi-state lottery drawing known for large jackpots. Under her watch, the California lottery also launched a new mobile app for players and invested in business intelligence software.
