This transformation also extends to the city's workforce, who now benefit from Google Workspace and Google Cloud certification opportunities.

At both the state and local levels, government organizations and education institutions in New York are using AI, including generative AI, to enhance the resident experience, improve services and outcomes, and ensure strong cyber resilience.

  • Sullivan County, NY: A small, rural county, is leading the way in AI-powered citizen services. By leveraging Google Cloud's Vertex AI, they've rapidly deployed a generative AI chatbot across 40+ departments, streamlining responses to common inquiries, freeing up staff for more complex tasks, and achieving a 62% reduction in call volume.
  • New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL): Their "Perkins" chatbot, available 24/7 in 13 languages, and the virtual agent have significantly improved user experience and accessibility while reducing the burden on NYSDOL staff. NYSDOL was recognized nationally for its innovative use of Google AI with the Merrill Baumgardner Innovation in Information Technology Award.
