Planet Technologies' Modern Desktop Deployment (MDM) engagement is a step-by-step guided transition from your traditional on premises focused desktop management approach to a cloud-first model. Gone are the days when operating system and Office suite upgrade projects required endless time and resources.

Conventional approaches to desktop and device management are no longer adequate for the new digital workplace. A cloud-first model for devices, security, data, collaboration, and applications must be seamlessly integrated to maximize efficiency and productivity for employees. Transformation in end-user computing is inevitable.

The MDM engagement will provide a Modernization Strategy offering recommendations for adopting a unified approach to endpoint management. This engagement offers discovery and learning sessions on the three pillars of desktop and device management.

For Windows desktops, we will explore the Windows-as-a-Service delivery model leveraging streamlined processes to keep Windows 10 up-to-date and secure. Windows 10 and Microsoft Apps for Enterprise are now aligned with each release maintaining an 18-month lifecycle. Modern deployment strategies are critical to ensuring a consistent release cadence. Operating system and Office suite upgrades can become an organizational process rather than intermittent and costly projects. New internet-based delivery mechanisms such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Azure roles, and the ability to manage Windows 10 with Microsoft Intune will be explored.

Non-Windows, mobile devices, and MacOS will also be discussed, focusing on management through Microsoft Intune as part of the new Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM) product suite. This will provide a unified approach to security and mobile device configuration through MEM’s single-pane-of-glass web interface.
