Sponsor Update: CGI IT Grant Results

In mid-July, CGI announced the opportunity for local Sacramento non-profit organizations to submit a 140 character grant application through social media for funding toward their IT needs. Out of 29 applications, ten finalists were selected (learn more about these incredible organizations on CGI’s Facebook page). Two organizations were selected for the 2013 CGI IT grant program.  GRAVITY has been awarded $3,500 for technology to support tutoring services for foster youth studying for the CA High School Exit Exam. My Sister’s House has been awarded $3,500 for technology infrastructure to support the administration of their domestic violence shelter.

We received positive feedback from the applicants regarding both the challenge and simplicity of submitting a grant application within 140 characters. CGI’s IT grant program is designed to inspire creative thinking, minimize the amount of time required for an organization to complete the grant application, and bring added visibility to local Sacramento causes through social media.

On related news, CGI is currently looking for some artistic talent to work with us and three of our non-profit partners (Sacramento Covered, Sacramento Hacker Lab and My Sister’s House) at the annual Chalk It Up festival. Send us a tweet or Facebook post if you are interested!
