The city of Santa Monica is looking for a vendor to help it manage an increasingly sought-after piece of urban real estate — the curb. The influx of delivery vehicles, coupled with high demand for vehicle parking, is prompting officials to take a new approach to the curbside.

Feroz Merchhiya has been tapped to lead the city’s Information Services Department. Merchhiya brings both public- and private-sector experience to the role.
Amid a “substantial need for my contributions to the Long Beach Utilities Department” following a cyber incident Nov. 15, Paula Crowell, its manager of Information Services, will stay with the city.
The municipal chief information officer will join the city in December from Long Beach Utilities, where she is manager of Information Services.
