Rogene Sears on Monday began serving as acting CIO for the Department of State Hospitals (DSH). For the past five years, Sears has been the department’s chief technology officer.
Sears is taking over responsibilities from Jamie Mangrum, who took a position in the private sector as a senior account executive with SAS. Mangrum had been the CIO at the Department of State Hospitals since 2011. He previously was the CIO at California Correctional Health Care Services, assistant secretary of information technology at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and CIO at the Department of General Services.
DSH oversees five state hospitals — Atascadero, Coalinga, Metropolitan (in Los Angeles County), Napa and Patton, and three programs located in state prisons.
