State lawmakers will examine state and vendor participation in the state's private cloud during a March 9 oversight hearing.
Two Assembly committees — Accountability and Administrative Review, and Privacy and Consumer Protection — are convening the joint hearing, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Room 437 at the State Capitol.
California CIO Carlos Ramos, other state officials, and representatives from private-sector firms testified at a similar Assembly oversight hearing a year ago. At the time, vendors urged the state to create an exception process for CalCloud and recommended improvements.
In the months since, the California Department of Technology has repositioned CalCloud as an "agnostic" platform that will host a variety of "vendor hosted software solutions" from multiple providers.
In September 2015, the state hosted a CalCloud Vendor Forum to provide details about the new approach for the state's private cloud.
