1. The Department of General Services this week released an RFI seeking input to identify a new content management system and a suggested redesign of its external website, www.dgs.ca.gov. DGS says its existing content management system and user controls are outdated and require significant upgrades. RFI responses are due May 30. Read more here.
2. The California Health and Human Services Agency is establishing a pre-qualified pool of as many as 15 vendors to provide "user-centric design" and agile software development services. The Child Welfare Services - New System (CWS-NS) will be the first project to use the newly formed group of companies, the agency said in a May 5 announcement. The vendor pool will be modeled after a purchasing agreement for agile development that the federal government established in 2015. Submissions are due June 9. Read more here.
3. The 911 Branch within the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services is purchasing next-gen 911 core services on behalf of more than 440 public safety answering points (PSAPs) in the state. Multiple contracts will be awarded through an invitation for bid published May 5. The CalOES 911 Branch procures next-gen 911 services via tariff rates, and CALNET 2 Master Service Agreements that expire in January 2018. The incumbents are AT&T and Verizon. 4. The California Highway Patrol on Monday released an RFQ for hardware, software and storage that will be used in a pilot of body-worn cameras. The CHP will test the body-worn cameras at two field offices in Stockton and Oakland. The RFQ includes body-worn cameras, cloud storage, local storage, evidence management software, configuration and training to support the one-year pilot project. 5. The Department of General Services has completed and released model contract provisions for infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) cloud computing agreements. The special provisions identify standards for data ownership and protection, data location, security incident notification, data storage and retrieval, and a several other factors specific to "as a service" offerings. The special provisions will apply to any contracts entered into on May 13 or thereafter. CMAS contractors may now offer IaaS and PaaS solutions. Read more here.
