As 2016 wraps up, it's indisputable that the year gone by was eventful for California's IT community. New projects, fresh initiatives, different approaches and emerging ideas are moving forward in state and local government from a variety of directions. This issue of Techwire magazine reflects this, as we look back on the biggest events from the past 12 months.
Innovation and entrepreneurship was one of big themes this year: The magazine highlights stories on the growing tech scene in the Sacramento area, as well as an ambitious effort to leverage California's high-speed rail system to help close the digital divide. Also featured in this issue: Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom takes on IT procurement; Techwire contributor Shell Culp weighs in on 2016; contributor Paul Benedetto discusses the importance of building relationships; and experts make predictions for 2017.
