Department of Business and Professional Regulation Asks for $2.7M for IT Projects

The department’s requests include the transition to Florida’s forthcoming PALM system, the acquisition of Microsoft 360 licenses and software for its call center.

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is requesting $2.7 million for nine technology initiatives in its legislative budget request (LBR).

The agency’s largest request is $1 million for the Florida Planning, Accounting and Ledger Management System (PALM) transition.

According to the LBR, the department is requesting funds to continue contractor support for programming modifications needed for the transition to PALM. This will involve updating and testing applications for the financials wave and payroll wave of the implementation of the Florida PALM.

Other department IT-related requests include:
  • $683,822 for 1,744 Microsoft G3 licenses
  • $216,000 for translation software or a solution for its call center
  • $191,856 for a third-party provider to develop automated scripts to streamline the application process for prospective licensees in three professions
  • $143,366 for support of eight positions throughout the department
  • $135,288 for recruiting and retaining staff
