Acevedo announced on LinkedIn that she would be joining the city’s public transportation provider.
Before joining CapMetro, Acevedo held various leadership positions in public sector technology including as vice president and CIO of Miami Dade College; chief technology officer for the Houston Airport System; CIO for Travis County; and IT program manager for Orange County, Calif.
As CTO for the Houston Airport System, Acevedo oversaw the strategic planning, innovation, information security and technology of George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby and Ellington airports, according to her LinkedIn page.
In Travis County she reported directly to the state’s Commissioner Court and was responsible for the technology strategic direction for a constituency of 1.2 million people, including over 40 elected officials managing business functions that include parks, justice and law enforcement, voting, tax collection and health and human services.
During her time in Orange County, Acevedo was responsible for strategic initiatives such as enterprise project portfolio management, strategic planning, business continuity and administrator for the multimillion-dollar annual technology initiative fund.
