Aging equipment at the VIA Metropolitan Transit Police Department has prompted Bexar County to seek bids to update the department's dispatch and records management system.
The current system has limited functionality, aging hardware and software, and technical support concerns, according to the RFP.
A system upgrade would allow users to better analyze public safety trends, link crimes and events, identify suspects and improve the quality of field reporting and statistical reports, according to the RFP.
Written questions on the RFP are due by 4:45 p.m. April 6. Quotes are due by 2 p.m. May 2. The RFP does not include a date for the contract to be awarded.
