Austin-Bergstrom Projects $47.2M in IT Expenditures

The airport’s capital improvement plan is a projection of its budget over the next five years, with $11.8 million allocated for IT in 2024 alone.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) plans to spend $47.2 million on IT over the next five years.

According to the city of Austin’s approved 2023-2024 budget, AUS has allocated $11.8 million for IT in 2024 as part of its capital improvement plan (CIP).

The city projects a $15.3 million IT budget for 2025, $11.6 million for 2026, $5.6 million for 2027 and $2.2 million for 2028.

In 2024, two projects will receive budgets in the millions, with the airport’s plan to procure passenger processing self-service technologies receiving $3 million and a virtual ramp control project following with $1 million.

Another $5.5 million is projected to be spent on passenger processing self-service technologies in 2025-2026.

For the airport’s virtual ramp control project, another $7 million is projected to be spent between 2025-2026.

Other notable projects listed in the CIP are as follows:
  • $2 billion for an IT master plan refresh
  • $2.1 million for project management software
  • $1.8 million for airport security system equipment replacements
  • $1.6 million for security system video management system storage network expansion
  • $1.6 million for IT enterprise computer equipment replacements
  • $1.2 million for an end-of-life replacement of network cybersecurity
