Austin CISO Shirley Erp Announces Retirement

Erp’s experience in the public sector spans back to 1980, where she joined the city of San Antonio as a systems programmer.

Shirley Erp, chief information security officer for the city of Austin, has announced her retirement from the public sector.

Erp announced her retirement via LinkedIn, where she reflected on five years with the city and 20 years of public service.

“My career has exceeded my wildest expectations, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all who have been part of this remarkable journey and contributed to our collective successes,” Erp’s statement reads. “I am deeply appreciative and will cherish the memories and valuable experiences we have shared.”

Erp’s experience in the public sector spans back to 1980, where she joined the city of San Antonio as a systems programmer. After transitioning to the private sector for a 20-year stint, she rejoined public service as CISO for the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Erp also served as CISO for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission for five years before her time with the city of Austin.

The city has not announced her replacement at the time of this writing.
